DrDinesh Baithma Jothi
Dr Dinesh A/L Baithma Jothi is a General Surgeon with extensive clinical, academic, leadership and research experience within the Malaysian Ministry of Health and has a professional interest in Hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) surgery. He graduated with an MBBS from the University of Malaya in 2013 and subsequently obtained Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland (MRCS) in 2019 and a Master of Surgery from the University of Malaya in 2023. His surgical career has provided broad exposure to general, gastrointestinal, colorectal, breast and endocrine, laparoscopic and HPB surgery. Following completion of postgraduate surgical training at the University of Malaya, he served as a General Surgeon at Hospital Queen Elizabeth, Sabah and Hospital Labuan. From May 2024 to March 2026, he also served as Head of the Department of Surgery at Hospital Labuan, gaining valuable experience in clinical leadership, multidisciplinary coordination, departmental administration and surgical service development. His commitment to HPB surgery is reflected through continued participation in HPB-focused congresses, workshops and training, including MyHPB Congress and ERCP-related training. He has developed a particular interest in complex hepatobiliary disease, surgical oncology and the management of patients requiring multidisciplinary care. Academically, Dr Dinesh has demonstrated sustained involvement in surgical research and scientific communication, with multiple oral and poster presentations at national surgical meetings and several peer-reviewed publications. His research experience encompasses HPB-related conditions, emergency surgery, trauma, breast surgery and patient-centred care.
