Prof. Dr. Hangjoo Cho is a prominent leader in trauma and acute care surgery in South Korea, currently serving as the Chairman of the Board of the Korean Society of Traumatology (KST) and the President of the Association of Regional Trauma Centers in Korea. He is a Professor of Surgery at the College of Medicine, The Catholic University of Korea, and directs the Regional Trauma Center for North Gyeonggi Province. With over twenty years of clinical and academic leadership, Prof. Cho is a key architect of South Korea’s national emergency and trauma infrastructure, holding pivotal advisory roles on the Central Trauma Committee and the Central Emergency Medical Committee under the Ministry of Health and Welfare. His extensive expertise spans acute care surgery, disaster medicine, and military medical operations, highlighted by his service as Chief of Medical Staff at Zaytun Hospital during the Iraq War. In recognition of his monumental contributions to public health and surgical advancement, Prof. Cho was honored with the prestigious Prime Minister’s Citation in 2026.
